
Cardinals’ Clara Boggs drove in 6 runs in the Ireton win at Holy Cross on Tuesday.
Cardinal bats awoke with a vengeance today as the Cardinal hitters showed little mercy at Holy Cross. Cardinal batters delivered 18 hits on the day and scored 18 runs to only 2 for Holy Cross. Clara Boggs led the team in RBI’s today with a whopping six RBI’s. Erin Rockwell knocked in five runs while scoring four herself. Erin rapped two triples and two singles going 4/5 on the day.Vivian Gray had a banner day going 3/4 with 3 RBI’s. Avery O’Connor crushed a pair of doubles knocking in 2 runs. Senior Captain Katie Reilly and catcher Emma Klein each had one RBI.
Cardinal hurler Erin Rockwell was dominant in the circle allowing only 2 Holy Cross hits and one earned run in the game. Erin struck out 10 Holy Cross batters along the way and issued but a single walk.
Vivian Gray had a career day going 3/3 plus a walk and rapping two singles and a double in the game. Vivian logged 3 RBI’s and nabbed a stolen base for the Cards as well. She scored 4 runs herself in the game. Avery O’Connor pounded 2 doubles and had a walk getting on base in three of her four at bats. Avery had 2 RBI’s on the day.
With the end of the season and post season play just around the corner, it is indeed an opportune time for the Cardinal bats to be getting hot, the defense to be playing with great efficiency, and the pitching to be strong.
Cardinals head to Arlington for a 4pm date with Bishop O’Connell before returning home for a senior day meeting with the Tartans of Holy Cross on Thursday.
