Bishop Ireton’s Alex Stipano had a milestone evening with a game-high 22 points, but the Cadets broke away after a slow start to top the Cardinals in Gallagher Gym Tuesday, 77-54.
For the four-year starter the 22-point night pushed her to 1016 career points. Senior Cece Leone added 17 of her own, but it was not enough to overcome five Cadets who also scored in double figures, led by Amira Collins with 13.
Bishop Ireton battled the home team early, forging to a 9-8 advantage early in the contest before the Cadets staged a 13-1 run to end the opening session with a 21-10 margin. The lead would grow to 38-21 and St Johns was off and running.
St Johns would add six more to their advantage in the third before the clubs cleared the benches in a high-scoring period where Ireton scored 22 of their 54 and the Cadets added 21 of their own.
Holy Cross visits the Cardinals on Friday as Bishop Ireton will close out the regular season with three home contests. Ryken and Good Counsel follow the Tartans into Godley Gym.
