Myrtle Beach
The girls had a great start of the week. The girls lacrosse team headed down to Myrtle Beach. They had two practices a day and a hard, long run in the morning. Many of the girls looked great and had fun during practices. Everyone was excited about being on Spring Break and being with their team. On Thursday, April 24, the girls went on a long 8 hour bus ride to Alpharetta, Georgia and went straight to practice.

Game 1: Loyola
An early morning game starting at 10:30 the Cardinals took the field to play against Loyola High School. There was a great start to the game with a win of the draw by Kayla Duperrouzel and a goal by Kelly Matthews. However, Loyola came back strong with a goal right after the Cards. Defense was strong with their backer defense and smart slides from Maggie Lohrer, Grace Fletcher, and Susan Morad. The Cardinals were very strong and ready to win. A yellow card against the girls made the team alittle shaken up and had two goals scored on them, but then made adjustment and did fine. Kendall Cunningham had a great shot that hit the pipe, but with her quick reactions she got the ball from out of the air and quicks ticked it into the goal! The second yellow card towards the end of the first half got into some of the girls’ heads. At halftime the score was 7-6 Cardinals. It seems like the referees were calling many fouls on the Cardinals but not many on Loyola and that seemed to be getting in the girls’ heads. The girls found it distressing but went hard throughout the game. This game was very physical and close. The game could have gone either way. The defense seemed very strong and they did not want to give up any goals. The goalies tried to save every goal but it just was not there. The end score of this nail biting game was 11-12 Loyola with a goal in the last 13 seconds.

Goals by: Charlotte Sofield, Kelly Matthews, Kelly Larkin, Kendall Cunningham, Christine Macey, Kayla Duperrouzel, and Kaitlin Luzik.

Next game at 2:30
