Alex Stipano scored 20 points and Cece Leone added 19, helping the Cardinals notch a 75-30 victory over Fredericksburg Christian School on Saturday. Bishop Ireton had an early scoring surge, claiming a 39-13 lead at the half. Despite substituting liberally throughout the game, the home team had a dominating performance from start to finish, with a season-high 10 players scoring in the contest, including 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Also chipping in for the Cardinals were Paige Russell (10 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal), Shannon Corridon (9 points, 3 steals), Heather Pearson (5 points), Keyarna Frederick (4 points, 1 steal), Hannah Miller (2 points, 4 rebounds), Kellen Phillips (2 points, 1 rebound), Charlotte Sofield (2 points, 3 rebounds) and Isabelle Kendall (2 points). Ileana Gutierrez was a big contributor as well, racking up four rebounds and four steals. Ireton finished the game with 33 rebounds (18 offensive/15 defensive) and 13 steals.
Next up for the Cardinals is St. Johns College High School. The Cadets are coming off a tough loss to 5th ranked Elizabeth Seton, dropping them into third place in the WCAC, behind PVI and Seton. Tipoff of the varsity game is set for 7:30pm.
