The Cardinals fell to Bishop O’Connell on Saturday, 55-49, despite a game-high effort from Cecilia Leone scoring 15 points. Bishop O’Connell clinched their lead in the fourth quarter on a free throw from Katie Meckus.
With a 22-point first quarter on the strength of a 20-1 run, the Cardinals pulled ahead early, eventually claiming a 30-27 lead by halftime. But this wasn’t enough to overcome Bishop O’Connell’s 28 points in the final two quarters of the game. With 22 fouls over the course of the game, the Cardinals had an aggressive showing.
Leone led the Cardinals’s offense, going 5-for-9 (56%) from the field while also sinking 62% (5-for-8) of free throws attempted.
Alexandra Stipano put up four three-pointers and scored 14 points total. Also racking up points for the Cardinals were Ileana Gutierrez (9 points), Charlotte Sofield (6), Paige Russell (3) and Shannon Corridon (2).
