Seniors Adrienne Maday (10) and Kenza Alaoui (19) were among 7 players recognized by WCAC in year-ending awards.

Bishop Ireton’s  girls soccer team saw four players honored by the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) this week when the first and second team all league teams were announced. Three other Cardinals were honorably mentioned by the WCAC as well.

The 10-3-3 Cardinals landed senior midfielder Adrienne Maday and sophomore forward Lilly Weber on the prestigious first team, all conference list of the top 15 players.  Maday is a repeat honoree but the speedy sophomore Weber makes her first appearance on the first team.  “Chauch Maday could legitimately be the player of the year” said Coach Gino Leon. “I know there are a number of exceptional players in this conference, but I think Maday is right there with them.”

Another senior defender Natalia Barrow was selected for the league’s second team as was the sophomore goalkeeper, Amy Krotine.   Says Leon of the Naval Academy-bound Barrow, “Natalia is a great talent, she plays the defensive end of the field brilliantly and she was one of the key ingredients of our team.”

Ireton also saw the Conference honorably mention junior midfielder Grace Hamilton, senior midfielder Kenza Alaoui, and sophomore forward Grace Hersey.

The legendary Jim Bruno of Good Counsel was named the Coach of the Year by his peers and his senior forward, Imani Dorsey was the coaches’ pick for Player of the Year.
