Grace Hamilton (6) controls the ball during play against Bishop O'Connell. The Knights lay ahead next week.

Bishop Ireton (4-1-2) broke open a one goal game in the second half and raced to a 5-1 win over Elizabeth Seton Tuesday in Bladensburg.

“The girls played very well, controlled the play of the game.” reported head coach Gino Leon.  “We possessed the ball for large amounts of time, which is what we try to do as part of our gameplan.”

Sophomore Lillie Weber had a banner day, scoring three times in the win.  Grace Hersey added a goal as did Adrienne Maday.  Maday also added an assist, as did Lisa Snydstrup for Ireton.

Coach Leon singled out Natalia Barrow for her exceptionally strong play on the defense, and lauded senior Kenza Mdarhri-Alaoui for her control of the game at the midfield and in the Ireton zone. “She plays a physical style that is so important in the WCAC. ” said Leon.

The Cardinals step out of WCAC play on Friday for a date with the Cubs of Georgetown Visitation.  Gametime in Washington is 4pm for the varsity contest.
