Cardinals' number 1 player, senior Dax McDonnell won the deciding match, sending Ireton to a 5-4 win over St Johns
After eight intense matches, the Cardinal’s men’s tennis players were tied, 4-4 with their opponents, St. John’s. The courts were all cleared except for senior Dax McDonnell’s #1 singles match.
Carrying the weight of the team on his shoulders, Dax managed to get an early lead against his opponent. He then proceeded to win 8-2, sealing a victory for the Cardinals.
Ireton’s four other wins came from sophomore Robin Beard (8-2) in #2 singles, Dax McDonnell and Robin Beard (8-4) in #1 doubles, Sophomore Matthew Pham (8-3) in #4 singles, and freshman Austin Baney (8-5), in # 5 singles.
The Cardinals get ready for the upcoming WCAC Tournament beginning Friday, April 26th, at the Olney Manor Tennis Club in Olney, Maryland.
