Junior Kendall Cunningham shredded the Potomac School Panthers’ defense for eight goals in a dominating 17-6 Bishop Ireton win on Saturday, April 13. Cunningham also had a huge number of draw controls which led to the Cardinals being able rely upon near-total ball control for a significant chunk of the game.
After going up 6-0 early in the first half, Bishop Ireton started rotating everyone into the game which led to six other players besides Cunningham scoring goals. Those other players were sophomore Kelly Matthews (3); freshman Kelly Larkin (2); junior Annie Barletta (1); and sophomores Natalie Irwin, Isabel Obregon, and Charlotte Sofield (1 each). Seven different players also got assists: Sofield (4); Obregon (3); Matthews (2); and sophomores Christine Macey, Kaitlin Luzik, Irwin, and junior Barletta (1 each). Junior goalie Olivia Cole had four saves.
The Cardinals’ (8-4 overall and 2-1 WCAC record) next game is at Fannon Field on Friday, April 19, 4:00 p.m., against the defending WCAC champion, the Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans.
