Bishop Ireton continued to pile up the runs on Wednesday, scoring four runs in the seventh inning, en route to a one-sided 19-6 win over Bishop McNamara at Frank Mann Field.
The Cardinals’ Varsity scored six runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Ben Judd, an RBI double by Scott Schwartz, a two-run single by Cody Hagenston, a wild pitch, and an RBI single by Jimmy Swiger. Hagenston racked up six RBIs on three hits for the redbirds.
Judd got the win for Ireton despite allowing six runs over four innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered seven hits.
The Cardinals pounded Bishop McNamara pitching, as seven hitters combined for 14 hits, 15 RBIs and 15 runs scored. Ireton grabbed the lead early thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI single by Nick Tangora.
The home team scored four runs in the second inning, and then followed it up with four more in the seventh. The second inning was highlighted by a Scott Schwartz solo home run.
Bishop Ireton matched their two-run fourth inning with two more in the fifth. In the fourth, they scored on an RBI single by Joseph Bagnerise, plating Robert Corallo.
After pushing across three runs in the bottom of the fifth, Bishop McNamara faced just a 9-6 deficit. A three-run home run by Snow fueled Bishop McNamara’s comeback. John Todd ended the inning by getting Hax to ground out.
