Ben Judd did all he could to give the Bishop Ireton a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Bishop O’Connell Knights, as the Cardinals lost 10-7 in seven innings at Frank Mann Field on Tuesday. Judd racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity. He singled in the third and fifth innings. Basse got the win in relief for Bishop O’Connell Knights, pitching three innings and allowed no runs.
The Knights jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the top of the second. They got things going when Vazquez singled. Shaw singled, scoring Tessier. Bishop O’Connell Knights pushed more runs across when Carson scored on an error, Vazquez and Shaw scored on a two-run single by Gressly, Gressly scored, German scored on an RBI triple by Daniele, and Daniele scored on a passed ball.
Ireton tied the game in the third on a three-run single by Cody Hagenston that scored John Todd, Judd and Seth Scalsky.
Bishop O’Connell Knights didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the fourth inning when it scored on an RBI single by Tessier. The Knights got one-run rallies in the sixth inning and the seventh. In the sixth, the Arlington school scored on a fielder’s choice, bringing home German.
