Andrew Selby once again went 2-4, but the Cardinals still fell to North Laural 4-3 in seven innings on Tuesday.
North Laural got it done with pitching on the way to a win. Their starter allowed three runs over 4 1/3 innings, striking out three, walking three and giving up five hits.
North Laural never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, sending 10 hitters to the plate, scoring four runs on an RBI double and three singles. Ireton countered with three in the bottom of the fifth, but could overcome the 4-run advantage.
Kyle Delaney walked, Corey Phillips and Andrew Selby singled, loading the bases. A wild pitch scored Delaney before Joe Bagnerise doubled home Phillips and Selby. Following a walk to Scott Schwartz, the visiting North Laural got a foul out and strike out to end the rally. The Cardinals would go in order in the 6th and see Selby reach on an error in the 7th before the game ended with a pair of strike outs.
