The Bishop Ireton Cardinals surprised PVI behind a complete game by senior Ben Judd on Tuesday 8-1 at Paul VI’s Panther Field in seven innings.
Ireton scored three runs in the seventh on a two-run double by Corey Phillips and a wild pitch. Phillips got on base four times in the game for the Cardinals, scoring two runs and collecting two RBIs.
Bishop Ireton relied on Ben Judd to eat up innings en route to the win. Judd pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, three hits, and one walk while striking out four.
The visitors never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring one run on an RBI single by junior Joseph Bagnerise.
Ireton added three runs in the sixth inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the sixth, the Cardinals scored on an RBI single by Seth Scalsky, scoring John Todd.
