
Senior Jimmy Keegan (right) has added a Holloway Tournament title and a 4th in the NoVA Regional tourney to his resume in this young wrestling season.
Bishop Ireton’s wrestlers opened the 2012-13 campaign at St James School for the Holloway Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday. An 8-team field, Ireton garnered a 4th place while the WCAC’s St Johns won the team title. Host St James was second, Landon third.
They saw Conor Reilly win a championship at 106, Nick Womack at 138, and senioir Jimmy Keegan claimed the title at 285. The Cardinals also had 4th place finishes from Jeff Severini and
The mega-tourney at Fairfax High School last Saturday saw 32 public and private schools from across the northern Virginia region gather for the annual battle. Last year’s Cardinals were the highest finishing team with a 9th place finish, but the Ireton squad couldn’t replicate that finish this year. Jimmy Keegan led the Alexandria school with a 4th place finish and fellow senior Nick Womack was able to land an 8th place finish that kept the team one place better than diocesan rival, Bishop O’Connell in the overall standings.
