The Cardinals rode a 4-goal performance from Brandon Attiliis to shut out the Frogs of Maret, 7-0 on Fannon Field Thursday in boys’ lacrosse.
Bishop Ireton bolted out to a 5-0 halftime advantage and played a solid, second half to secure their first win of the season. William Chastain added a pair of markers and Alex Carpenter had a goal for the redbirds. Goalkeeper Andrew Bachinsky slammed the door on the Frogs in the first half and Ben Hodges kept pace, minding the net in the second half.
The defense was smothering for the Cardinals, causing 7 turnovers in the contest and relentless on the ground balls. Unofficially, Ireton credited groundballs to Tommy Putzu (4), Nick Galdos (4), Albert Schibani (3), Jonathan Frischkorn (2), Jack Beer (2), Eyobell Berhe (2), Patrick Rouin (2), Max Becker (1), Darville (1), Phillip Thomas (1), Attiliis (1), Carpenter (1), and Mike Moseley (1). The boys return to action on Monday when they host Mary Institute-Country Day School of St Louis, Missouri on Monday in a varsity only contest. Gametime is 4pm. They will open the WCAC schedule when they host Paul VI Catholic High School on Wednesday, varsity at 4pm, JV at 5:30.
