Mens’ Lax Anxious for a New Season

Over 60 players turned out to compete for the 2012 lacrosse program.

Starting back is September, the lacrosse team had a goal, improve play in the WCAC and close the gap between them and the historically better teams. The motto of “Burn the Boats” was adopted by the team. The story of Burn the Boats goes back to Hernando Cortez, searching for gold and land in the new world. He instructed his captains and men to Burn the Boats, he was so set on achieving his goal, that he didn’t want to offer them a way out.

The men’s lacrosse team is set on the goal of improving and will not settle for the easy way out. The men’s lacrosse team is focused on each other, no stars, no standout players or personalities for this squad, according to head coach Jon Reed, in his second season with Bishop Ireton.  “We are a Team and can not function without each player on the team. We are excited to represent Bishop Ireton, and hope you come out and enjoy one of our games.” c9mmented the Cardinals’ coach.

Bishop Ireton will conclude their preseason with scrimmmages at Fannon Field on Mar 7th with Forest Park and March 8th with Edison, before opening the regular season on March 13th with their home opener with Potomac School. Game time is 4pm.
