Crowd of golfers vie for success in coming season

Coach Pete Davey hopes junior Nick Womack has a golf season as successful as Womack's just completed wrestling season.

The 2012 Bishop Ireton Golf team is looking forward to a great season under Coach Pete Davey.  Over thirty players tried out for the team, ending in a varsity squad of 13 and a JV squad of 8 (the first time we’ve had a JV squad in years!)

The team will take on Landon in a scrimmage on the 14th to begin the year with WCAC action beginning away at DeMatha on the 20th.  Senior captain Jack Beveridge leads a young squad that has worked hard in the off-season to improve their games.

Juniors Mark Porter, Daniel Robinson, Justin Holmes, Connor Wayne and Nick Womach will play prominent roles for the team this year.  The team has set goals of a top 4 finish in the WCAC and a win in the State Catholic tourney in April.
