The Indoor track team is rounding out the end of the season as it approaches the states in two weeks. The runners have performed well and are getting into the kind of track shape that sets them up for a great spring. Last week the entire team was able to compete in the “Last Track to Philly”. at Georgetown Prep with over 500 athletes competed in this meet.
The boys 4×200 was run by Tavon Smith, Brandon Price, Albert Schibani, and Justin Paige. They are now running 1:39 or better on a consistent basis. Tavon, who ran 3 events this past weekend, came back to run another 200 meters in the sprint medley. He was joined by freshman John Holbrook, senior Noah Brooksher, and Sophomore JP Ryan. JP has turned into a solid middle distance runner after posting a time of 2:26 on his leg of the 800.
Brandon Price, Justin Paige, Albert Schibani, and Tavon Smith made up the foursome that competed for BI in our final race of the day. Smith and Schibani turned in splits of 55 and 56, both respectable times for runners that are new to one of tracks most difficult races.
On the ladies side, Nicole Bond and Ricca Graham led the foursome that competed in two relays for the women’s relays. They were joined by freshman Isela Vasquez, and freshman Lolo Hogue. The girls competed in 4×200 and 4×400. All four of the girls ran well and have improved tremendously during this past winter. Bond and Graham had relay times of 63.2 and 64,6, which puts them well ahead of last spring. Both Bond and Graham were part of a school record setting team that placed our 4×400 among the top groups in the WCAC at the conclusion of the 2011 outdoor season.
