3-time all conference player Katrina Guillou selected to Washington Post's first-team, allMet squad

Bishop Ireton’s Katrina Guillou, a senior forward, has been selected to the Washington Post’s allMet first team for soccer.  The three-time  first-team all-WCAC selectee was the Cardinals’ leading goal scorer.  The Fort Washington, Maryland native is likely headed to UNC-Wilmington next fall.

Teammate Helena Barber joined Guillou on the girls list as an honorable mention. The defender was key member of the defense that shut down opponents, including the Good Counsel Falcons in the semi finals of the WCAC tournament, as well as containing St Johns in the championship, where only corner kick found its way in the goal and the Cadets were held to fewer than 10 shots on net.

The third Ireton senior recognized was defender, Nick Galdos from the boys soccer team. While the team enjoyed fewer successes on the scoreboard than the girls, Galdos steered the efforts of the Cardinals on the field for Coach Jon Norem. Galdos did double duty for Ireton as a placekicker on the varsity football team as well.

The Cardinal girls soccer team, at 12-3-1, finished strong in the fall season, upending undefeated Good Counsel in the WCAC semifinals in Olney. The Falcons were the top ranked team by not only the Washington Post but ESPN Rise, the high school publication by the network, ranked Good Counsel as the country’s best girls’ team.

Although Ireton was upended 1-0 in the championships by St Johns, the Post selected Ireton as their #4 team in their final poll while ESPN lined up St Johns #15, the Cardinals #16, Good Counsel #17, and McDonough School of Baltimore, another area powerhouse, #18.
