The Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association released the first division I girls tennis poll this week. Bishop Ireton’s Cardinals are ranked 8th in the state with a 3-1 mark early in the fall campaign. Coach Katie Sloper-Johnson’s girls have topped defending WCAC champions, Paul VI, 5-4, Good Counsel and Elizabeth Seton to post an undefeated WCAC dual match record.
The Cardinals only loss was to #10 Episcopal and a match remains to be played with St Stephens, also a top ten program. Ireton looks to push its WCAC record to 4-0 when they tangle with Bishop McNamara on Wednesday at Carl Sandberg Middle School for a 4pm start.
