Collins reaches the finals of US Junior National Swim championships

Liz Collins, second from bottom, set Ireton record in the 100 meter breaststroke this seeason and made it to the finals of US Junior Nationals in Orlando, Florida

William & Mary-bound senior Liz Collins swam her way into the finals of the US National Club Swimming Association’s  Junior National Swimming 200 meter breaststroke championships in Orlando, Florida, March 15-19, 2011 . 

Collins, a record holder at Bishop Ireton, shaved two seconds off her personal best with her qualifying performance.  She finished 17th out of 32  in the finals in a field of more than 300 swimmers.  Her time of 2:18.30 was two seconds better than her previous personal best time in the event.

The Ireton senior also competed in the 50 and 100 meter ****** stroke as well as the 400 meter IM at the prestigous meet.   She completes a four-year swimming career at Bishop Ireton as a team captain, winner of 100 meter ****** stroke at the Washington Metropolitan Private School Swimming and Diving League championships and the School’s record holder in the 100 meter ****** stroke.
