2011 Blue Ridge Classics Grand Champions!

The Bishop Ireton Varsity Cheerleading team maintained their championship title for the 3rd year in a row at the Blue Ridge Classics competition on Saturday at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Again, they won the 1st place title and received the Grand Champion trophy! The cheerleaders defeated teams from North Carolina and Virginia such as Wilmington Christian, Wilson Academy, Faith Academy, Fredericksburg Christian Academy, and Liberty Christian Academy, just to name a few.

They are continuing to prove that they are a championship team and their competitors are beginning to respect them on the mat. “The girls were on fire today!” praised Coach Angela Hope-Eskew. “People know who the BI cheerleaders are now, and they have high expectations for them. The team always rises to the occasion and surpasses the expectation! They performed a 1st place routine today and I was very proud of them!” The competition was tough but, it was the Alexandria school who left southwest Virginia with another championship title and momentum for Nationals.

Ireton heads to the national championships in suburban Charlotte, NC March 3-7. The team finished 4th last year in the National competition, and fifth they prior year under the 2 years of Coach Hope-Eskew.
