Cardinals Fall in City Volleyball Title Game, 3-1

Bishop Ireton High School was the host site of the 6th Annual Alexandria City Volleyball Tournament. The first round action had Episcopal High School being defeated by TC Williams 25-23,25-17,25-18 and St Stephen’s &St. Agnes was defeated by Bishop Ireton 25-13,25-12,25-19. Junior middle hitter Laura Hart and Sophomore right side hitter Sarah Hersey led the team with 6 kills each. Freshman setter Ashley Cabrera served up 7 of the 11 aces to lead the team in serving. Friday night had Episcopal defeating St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes in the Consolation game by the score of 25-9,25-13, 25-15. The Championship game had TC Williams coming out on top of Bishop Ireton by the score of 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-13 Senior outside hitter Alicia Sobral led the Cardinals with 7 kills followed by Senior mid-hitter Margaret Coyle with 4. Junior middle-hitter Laura Hart recorded 5 blocks. The Cardinals played strong defense against TC’s Sophomore outside hitter Kate Widmier who led all teams in kills.
