Ireton whitewashes Roadrunners

Bishop Ireton’s girls tennis team took on Elizabeth Seton at Trinity College, Seton’s home courts, in Washington, DC yesterday bringing home a 9-0 victory in the team’s fourth match of the season to place them at 3-1 in WCAC conference play.

 

Sophmore singles starter #5 Natalia Spinetto finished first for the Cardinals winning (8-0). Her win was quickly followed by Senior Nicole Williams win (8-0) at #4 with the rest of the squad following their lead. #1 Monica Zakaria won (8-0), Christy Macey took #3 at (8-0), Mary Rose White won (8-0) at #2 and completing the singles sweep Allie Laclede won (8-0) at #6.

 

Doubles play began with the match won by Ireton but the lady Cardinals pressed on. Monica Zakaria and Nicole Williams, #1 doubles,moved quickly to a (8-0) win followed by Mary Rose White and Christy Macey’s win (8-0) at #2 doubles. Finishing the day Christina Spinetto and Megan Fyffe won (8-2) at #3.

 

The Cardinal ladies will face the stiff competion of PVI today at 4pm on the courts at Fairfax High School.
