Cardinals Fly by Falcons in WCAC opener

The Good Counsel Falcons traveled to the new tennis Cardinals’ home at Carl Sandburg Middle School and found the redbirds tenous defenders of their nest as Ireton posted a 7-2 win to open their 2010 home and WCAC season. 

 

In singles play Bishop Ireton seniors  #6 Allie Lacede and #4 Nicole Williams took their Falcon rivals (11-9) and (10-6) respectively while juniors #2 Mary Rose White and #3 Christy Macey won matches at (10-3) and (10-8). Sophmore #5 Natalia Spinetto finished with a (10-3) win to capture the match.

 

The Cardinals dominated, finishing in their doubles play with winning pairs Christy Macey and Mary Rose White, #2 doubles taking the Falcons in a (8-2) win and Ireton’s Allie Lacede and Natalia Spinetto, #3 doubles capturing a (8-2) win.

 

Team captain Nicole Williams and co-captain Monica Zakaria concur “we are off to a great start and excited about the 2011 season.”

 

The  Cardinals will face Bishop McNamara on their turf this Thursday.  Matches begin at 4pm at Cosca Regional Park in Maryland.
