The Bishop Ireton Wrestlers wrapped up a busy five days of wrestling and ten individual dual matches on Monday. The highlight of this busy schedule was the participation in the Cavalier Duals at Archbishop Spalding in Severn, MD. This “duals” tournament guaranteed eight matches to each of the fourteen schools that participated. Among those teams that competed were several of Maryland’s top wrestling teams and over twenty The competition was fierce, but Ireton grapplers stepped up to this challenge without hesitation and surprised many of their opponents by demonstrating just how tough a Cardinal can be. Coach Don Dight’s team went 3-5 but the wrestlers were hardened by the higher level of competition, according to the Ireton skipper.   “This will pay us dividends hopefully when the WCAC and state tournament time comes.  We will be used to tough competition and a lot of it.”

The week began on Thursday of last week with the match against Maryland School for the Deaf. Despite having to forfeit matches at two weight classes the Cardinals rolled over MSD 53-24.
