Cardinals win streak hits 5

The Cardinals continued their undefeated season with back to back NVSHL wins last week at the Prince William Ice Center. Back after a 10 day break, the Cards came out strong on Thursday, December 17th, against a determined but undermanned North Stafford squad.

Although the game remained close for the first period, BI turned up the heat late in the second. The offense, led by Reid Yager with 3 goals and an assist, continued the pressure in the third period, ultimately prevailing, 9-4. Also scoring for the Cardinals were Dillon Roach with a pair of goals and Dave Souliotis, James Smith, Ben Gerke and Tom Cyrnak with 1 goal each. Assists went to Cyrnak (3), Souliotis (2) and William Chastain, Tom Casey, Smith and Roach with 1 each. Robert Chastain picked up the victory in net.

Friday, December 18th, saw the Cardinals return to the Prince William Ice Center to host a tough Forest Park/South County combined squad. This was a physical contest from the start, and it was clear the Cards had their work cut out for them. The BI offense rose to the challenge, firing 56 shots at the Forest Park goalie and slipping 5 of them by. Robert Chastain was solid in net, stopping everything sent his way, and preserving the 5-0 shutout, his second of the season. The offense on this day was led by Dillon Roach with 3 goals, with Reid Yager and Tom Casey picking up the other 2. Ben Gerke was credited with 2 assists, and James Smith, Dan Tangora, William Chastain and Robert Chastain each picked up 1.

The Cardinals head into the holiday break with a perfect 3-0 record. Their next NVSHL clash is Friday night, January 8th, at 7:00 pm at Mount Vernon when they’ll host a combined South Lakes/Marshall squad.
