Bishop Ireton graduate Alexis Foltz scored a key goal for East Carolina Sunday as East Carolina defeated SMU, 2-1.
Foltz, who is now a junior, scored the Pirates’ first goal just before halftime when she took a nice pass from sophomore Tricia Tufts and powered the ball into the empty net. Foltz now has a team-leading four goals in Conference USA play.
“The finishes by Alexis and Amanda were great and I am very proud of our effort this weekend,” East Carolina Coach Rob Donnenwirth said, according to East Carolina’s athletics website.
Foltz was a two-time captain and two-time second-team All-WCAC player at Ireton. She tallied nine goals and four assists as a junior in limited action and 11 goals and three assists as a senior. She led Bishop Ireton to the WCAC semifinals and one finals appearance her senior year.
