Junior OF Vivian Grays warms up before action during her first varsity softball season.

Usually in softball when a defense plays flawlessly and your pitcher throws a 3 hitter… you win. Well, that’s usually. Today however, the opponents defense played flawless softball as well and their pitcher threw a 4 hitter. When the pitching duel was over… both teams left the field with the satisfaction that they had fought the good battle.

St John’s scored what would be the only run scored in the game in their home first inning. From that point on it was both the pitching and the defense that dominated the game. From the second inning to the end of the game neither team could put a base runner beyond first base. The defenses handled everything hit their way. There were no errors in the game by both teams.
While the Cardinals out hit St Johns 4-3, the St Johns pitcher managed to scatter her hits through the game. St Johns had managed to get 2 consecutive hits in the first inning which was all they needed.
