The BI JV Men’s lacrosse team played gritty, team lacrosse for four quarters to earn a come from behind, WCAC victory over the visiting St Mary’s Ryken on Fannon Field yesterday.

Freshman Max Hanson scored the 1st Cardinal goal at 4:49 in the first quarter, when he dodged down the crease to give the Cardinals the lead. The Cardinal defense limited SMR to 4 shots in the quarter.

Sophomore attackman Harry Bass extended that lead to 2-0 at 5:43 in the 2nd quarter when he received a pass from Soph Defenseman Declan Sofield & buried a low left handed shot in goal. The defense, led by Soph goalie Liam McHugh, held the Saints scoreless in the 1st half.

Cardinal turnovers allowed SMR to claim the lead with 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd quarter. Ten seconds remained in the quarter when Soph middie Antony Simuro scored with an assist from Soph attack Harry Bass to tie the game.

At 7:09 in the final quarter, Simuro fed Bass cutting through the crease for the go ahead score. The Defense secured the victory by causing multiple SMR turnovers, winning ground balls and effectively clearing the ball.

The Cardinals host Flint Hill on Fannon Field on Easter Monday, 6 Apr 2015.

Varsity game begins at 4 PM; JV game to follow approximately 5:30 PM.
