2015 Catholic National girls’ team at Loyola U. of Baltimore
Of the 25 teams that traveled to attend, the Bishop Ireton Men’s and Women’s squads each took 9th place in the National Catholic Swim & Dive Championship held at Loyola University’s Mangione Aquatic Center in Baltimore on January 24-25. The competition at this meet was fierce with first place Notre Dame Preparatory School taking 389 points against the BI Women’s squad tally of 124. Similarly, the top men’s school, Loyola Blakefield, scored 416 points against the BI Men’s squad total of 88.
New Cardinal team records were set by:
- Men’s 200 Free Relay team of Ben Goski, Ryan Scott, AJ Salvatori and Jimmy Grant with 1:28.17, taking sixth place overall
- Ben Gorski in the 100 Breaststroke with 57.21, taking second place overall; Ben broke his own school records twice in this meet!
Anna Shumate tied Alumnus Cardinal (and William & Mary swimmer) Liz Collins’ 100 Breaststroke record with 1:06.11 and took first place overall, edging out top-seeded Sarah Cahill, a senior from Bishop Denis J. O’Connell.
