December 27th the Bishop Ireton wrestlers attended teh St Stephens Holiday Classic. The team placed 3rd over all out of 10 schools.
The squad was led by these individuals finishes, including Joey Siedlarz winning the Cardinals lone championship:
Andrew Simoes 4th, Max Russell 3rd, Ryan Walsh 3rd, Ben Siedlarz 4th Declan Sofield 3rd, Perris Jones 2nd, Niall Lewis 4th, Joey Siedlarz 1st, Trey Lovisone 2nd, Thomas Shoemaker 4th, and Gavin Webster 3rd.
*Perris Jones was unseeded wrestler who knocked off St Stephens wrestler in the quarter finals and Joey Siedlarz beat the OConnell 182lb he lost to earlier on this year.” said a happy coach Kwinten Brown.
Following the holidays, the Cardinals went to the King George Nick Mason Memorial.
The team placed 3rd out of 8 teams. Joey Siedlarz again earned 1st, while 2nd place finishers were Declan Sofield, Niall Lewis, and Jordan Hansen. 3rd place finishers are Max Russell, Ryan Walsh, Gavin Webster. 4th place finishers are Ben Siedlarz, Andrew Grabowski, Jackson Ahearn and Thomas Shoemaker. 5th place finisher Andrew Simoes. 6th place finisher Henry Somerville.
*Declan Sofield was unseeded coming into the tournament and finished 2nd. In the semifinals Declan beat a tough kid form River Bend High School.” beamed a proud Coach Brown. “Joey Siedlarz wrestled a great tournament, coming home with the gold.”
