Despite Nick Schmelzer’s team-high 9 points, the Cardinals lost to the St. John’s 77-47. The St. John’s grabbed the lead against the Cardinals on a two-pointer from Budrys in the second period raced away from a 11-11 first period.
The Cadets responded in with a 24-point second quarter to build a 35-21 advantage at intermission and raced away in the second half to the win.
Jamie Pasha put up two three-pointers and scored six points total. Also chipping in for the Cardinals were Quintin Gilchrest (8 points, 3 rebounds), Michael Everett (7 points, 1 rebound), Chase Hill (6 points, 1 rebound), Kyle Bethea (4 points, 2 rebounds), Darius Hines (4 points, 2 rebounds) and Jeremy Guillaud (2 points, 1 rebound). Pasha was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up four rebounds. The Cardinals finished the game with 16 rebounds (two offensive/14 defensive) and one steal.
