Coach Rick Sofield's 2014 squad was the first Ireton team ever to win a WCAC and state championship in the same season. They ended the season ranked 5th in LaxPower's national high school girls' final poll.

Bishop Ireton’s 2014 girls’ lacrosse team has been nominated for an influential Inside Lacrosse Magazine “Laxie” award.

Ireton is one of five national nominees for Girls’ High School Team of the Year.  Inside Lacrosse said of Ireton, “After a bumpy stretch in mid-April, Rick Sofield’s team won the season finale over perennial power St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, becoming the first team in school history to capture both the WCAC and the Virginia Independent State Athletic Association titles.”

The other nominees are Manhasset (NY); McDonogh (MD); Moorestown (NJ); and Vero Beach (FL).

You can vote for the Cardinals at http://www.insidelacrosse.com/page/laxies.  You must register with Inside Lacrosse to vote, but it is a  quick registration takes no more than one minute to complete.
