Despite Jimmy Swiger‘s 2-3 performance at the plate on Tuesday, the Bishop Ireton Cardinals took a 14-2 loss at the hands of Bishop O’Connell at Frank Mann Field.
Hayden Basse recorded the win for Bishop O’Connell. He allowed two runs over six innings. Basse struck out three, walked one and gave up six hits.
Bishop O’Connell’s Corey Burch, Myles Hudzick, Nick Meruvia and Rafi Vazquez combined for nine hits and seven RBIs.
Sean Workman took the loss for the Cardinals Varsity. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked one and struck out two.
The game was never in doubt after the third, as Bishop O’Connell scored six runs on a two-run double by Vazquez and three errors.
After posting one run in the third on an RBI single by Chandler Wilder, scoring Swiger, the home team again scored one in the fourth on a Swiger RBI.
