The Bishop Ireton girls lacrosse team traveled to St. John’s College High School in Chevy Chase, DC for an outstanding game on April 11. The team came together and played as a team, like always. Cardinals came out strong with a win on a draw and a quick goal. Many of the plays called by the team were executed flawlessly. The passes were on point along with sharp passes, quick sticks, and skilled stick skills. The defense was strong making the opponents drop the ball, and making forced passes. The defense players are very good at helping their teammates know where and when there is an extra player. The re-defending was on point with not letting St. John’s getting to far down field. With the help of the Cole goalie sisters, Olivia and Amelia, the Cardinals were able to fly by SJC. The end score was BI- 17, SJC- 4. The top scorers of the game were Kelly Mathews, Kelly Larkin, Charlotte Sofield, and Kayla Duperrouzel. Many draw controls by Kelly Mathews, Caton Brisbin, and Kaitlin Luzik. This team seems strong and every single girl wants to be in the WCAC Championship this year and their fellow Cardinals are rooting them on. This was game one out of five games in seven days. On April 12 the team will play a very tough competitor, Collegiate.
Cardinals record: 5-1 in the WCAC and 8-1 overall
