TheĀ Cardinals Varsity dropped an 11-2 decision to DeMatha at Frank Mann Field on Saturday.
Brad Thaxton got the win for DeMatha. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out nine, walked two and surrendered three hits.
DeMatha went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on two errors and an RBI single by Chris Jeletic.
DeMatha got two-run rallies in the second inning and the fourth. In the second, DeMatha scored on an RBI single by Justin Morris, plating Michael Dunn.
Two of the Bishop Ireton runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the second, making the score 5-2. An RBI single by David Ward and an error triggered the Cardinals’ comeback. Finally, Thaxton induced an inning-ending strike out from Sam Ratner.
