Bishop Ireton outlasted Bishop McNamara on Wednesday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-6 win at Frank Mann Field.
TheĀ Cardinals Varsity pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. An error scored Chandler Wilder and gave the Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity the lead for good.
Seth Scalsky went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Ireton. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the second inning.
Kyle Delaney recorded the win for the Bishop Ireton, allowing six runs over seven innings. He struck out six, walked one and surrendered six hits.
Paul Snow took the loss for Bishop McNamara. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked three and struck out one.
Bishop McNamara jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Isiah Chambers kicked things off for Bishop McNamara with a single. A single by Tyler Gerald then moved Isiah from first to second. Bishop McNamara added more runs when Gerald scored on an error and Ragsdale scored on a groundout by Paul.
The lead was the Cardinals’ to lose after fifth inning. More runs came home on an RBI double by Chandler, an error, and a sacrifice fly by David Ward.
