Isabelle Wilcox was a top finisher for Bishop Ireton at McNamara Saturday and shaved time off her personal bests in the 800 meter and 1600 meter races.

On an unseasonably warm April day, the Bishop Ireton track & field distance runners had a banner day at the Bishop McNamara Invitational in Forestville, Maryland.

On the ladies side, Laura Mueller cut almost 40 seconds from her time in the 3200 meter race last week to run a personal best of 12:57. Mueller placed 6th overall in the 3200. Junior Isabelle Wilcox destroyed her personal best in the 800 meter race by ten seconds as she ran a 2:28. Wilcox was also two seconds off her personal best in the 1600 as she ran a 5:31. She placed 7th in the 1600 and 12th in the 800. Sophomore Catherine LoGrande had strong performances in both the 1600 and as the anchor leg in the 4×800 race which included fellow teammates Catriona Corallo, Ashley LaRochelle, and Maddy McDade.

For the men, Josh Estevez dropped his personal best in the 1600 by five seconds as he ran a time of 4:49. Estevez placed 16th overall in the 1600 meter race. Junior Aaron Ault was two seconds off his personal best in the 1600 as he ran a time of 5:01. Junior Thomas Ward placed 7th overall in the 3200 meter race as he ran a time of 10:59. Sophomore Josh Hensley, in his first race in an Ireton uniform, ran a 2:24 in the 800 meter race. Matt Poling ran 11:49 as he placed 15th overall in his first 3200 meter race.

The Cardinals head to Chantilly this coming Saturday for the Cassels Track Experience at Chantilly High School.
