Outfielder Vivian Gray and the Cardinals had a great week in Myrtle Beach, going 4-1 in softball action against competition from across the East Coast.

Mornings are agreeing with Bishop Ireton’s softball Cardinals (8-7, 1-5). The team ended the week-long stay in Myrtle Beach with their third shutout of tourney, 9-0, over Trinity Christian Friday. And, for the third time in 5 games, the girls took the field at 8 am!

Sophomore Erin Rockwell started in the circle for the Cardinals and belted a 2-run home run early in the contest. Freshman Avery O’Connor came on in relief and tossed 5 scoreless innings recording 6 strikeouts.

Lots of offense in the tournament finale, second consecutive game of air tight defense; Bishop Ireton returns to Alexandria Friday night tired but much improved with the week of good weather and a focus on softball.

They return to WCAC action Tuesday when they host Elizabeth Seton. Ireton edged the Roadrunners, 1-0 prior to departing to South Carolina.
