Softball outlasts Bamberg, SC 5-4 in 10 innings

Cardinals improved to 3-1 at Grand Strand softball tourney in Myrtle Beach, SC with 5-4 10-inning win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt HS.

Cardinals improved to 3-1 at Grand Strand softball tourney in Myrtle Beach, SC with 5-4 10-inning win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt HS.

Bishop Ireton wins marathon 10-inning game by score of 5-4. Pitcher Erin Rockwell goes the distance, gets 14 strikeouts.

The Cardinals led 1-0 until the bottom of the seventh when Bamberg tied it.  Ireton  went ahead 2-1 in the 9th, only to see the South Carolinans back again to tie 2-2.

The redbirds scored 3 in the top of the 10th,  but the Red Raiders answered with 2 in the bottom of the inning before the Cardinals closed the door on the marathon 2 hour 20 minute game.

Ireton defense once again played tough all game. Another team win. Cardinals posts 3-1 record in Myrtle Beach with Trinity Christian in the tourney finale on Friday, another sunrise 8am start.
